Pre-Kindergarten with Ms. Miller

I was born and raised in New York on the North Shore of Long Island. For thirteen years following my high school graduation I lived in New York City where I attended and graduated from New York University (with a B.S. in Educational Theatre). Following my graduation from NYU, I worked in professional theatre in a variety of capacities for ten years before my heart led me to Chicago to pursue a new career in education. I graduated from DePaul University in 2008 with a Master of Education in Early Childhood Education. I taught Pre-K in private programs and the Chicago Public School district for four years before moving to Lake Placid to be closer to my family. I continued teaching Pre-K in the Adirondacks, taking a brief break for a few years to work in the hospitality industry. I returned to education five years ago and taught Universal Pre-K at Little Learners at Doug’s Place. This will be my thirteenth year of teaching and I’m very excited to be teaching Pre-K this year.

What We're Learning

Pre-Kindergarten will be using the Starfall curriculum. At the earliest levels, Starfall demonstrates learning through exploration and play, beginning with the senses, exploring colors, music, and rhymes. Children gain exposure to early literacy and math concepts through exposure to letter-sound relationships, counting, and numbers in a pressure-free, fun-filled environment.
